To Blog or not to Blog

That is the question. A lot of our customers are constantly asking, what more can I do to get some exposure to my Farm and animals? One of the biggest obstacles in the alpaca industry is educating the general public. 8 out 10 people think of a Llama when they hear the word Alpaca. Although they aren't far off, Llamas do not exactly symbolize all the benefits of raising Alpaca and utilizing it's fiber.

Besides making a website for your farm, and posting listings to AlpacaNation, running a Blog is a great way to get exposure and to educate the general public. We ourselves have been writing a blog for our farm site, and have been very happy with the results. There is a certain amount of gratification knowing that there are people out there reading up on what's going on in your back yard. We have a wide range of avid readers, ranging from community school teachers to even our own neighbors.

It has lead to us showcasing the animals at our town Middle School and scheduling farm visits for people to come out and get a hands on experience. For 10 minutes a day, several times a week, it is well worth the time and effort.

With blogging being one of the crazes of the internet, it has become easier and easier to start and maintain one of your own. We personally use Google's tool - www.blogspot.com . It is super simple to use and allows you to upload images straight from your digital camera which ad an awful lot to your blog.

For an example of the types of postings we make - check out the Golden Touch Farm Blog - http://goldtouchfarm.blogspot.com
