Selling Green Alpaca

More and more consumers are becoming aware of the impact their purchasing habits have on the global environment, and as they begin to ask where and how these finished goods are made, American Alpaca fits perfectly into the green movement. Alpaca Farms having goods manufactured with their fiber are on the front lines of the growing Alpaca Fiber Industry, and it is important they are able to communicate to the end consumer what makes wearing alpaca such an easy choice. Whether you deal directly with people at your farm store or local fair, or manage wholesale accounts with retail stores, having a "30 Second Elevator Pitch" is important. We all need to be able to convey what alpaca is and what makes it's finished goods such a good fit into the growing green movement. Here are several selling points to help you get started on brainstorming your own.

Made in the U.S.A.
- All of NEAFP's products are manufactured in the United States, ensuring that socially responsible business decisions are behind the creation of them. This is very important to us as more and more stories hit the news of third world countries taking advantage of workers, making them work obscene hours in harsh conditions. We also choose all Eco-conscious manufacturers, who go out of their way to ensure their manufacturing process does not harm the environment.

Hypo-Allergenic
- Unlike wool, Alpaca does not contain the natural oil Lanolin. Many people who find wool scratchy and irritating to their skin, are allergic to substances found in the Lanolin oil. Alpaca Fiber also has a smooth outer surface, which makes it one of the finest and softest fibers to the touch.

Light Weight and Breathable
- Alpaca Fiber has a semi-hollow structure, which allows it to wick moisture away from the skin and trap warmth. The garments are very warm but allow the skin to breathe. Alpaca finished goods are wearable for many different seasons, adding more appeal to the end consumer.

Treading Lightly
- Some of you have noticed our new hang tags, which say "Treading Lightly on the Earth like the Alpaca itself." The animal is very earth friendly. It's soft padded feet do not tear up the ground and destroy pastures. It's advanced digestive system produces dung that can be used as fertilizer right away. Many other animal manure must be composted or treated with chemicals to ensure it does not burn out the plants.

Renewable Resource
- Alpaca in the United States are sheared once a year and the process is simple and quick. No animals are harmed while collecting the fiber, as well as creating all of our products.
